  16. While a diplomatic vice consul in New York during World War II,
  17. he stole vital U.S. atom-bomb secrets. The information Yatskov
  18. supplied to Moscow accelerated completion of the first Soviet
  19. A-bomb. Although he was indicted in 1951 along with Ethel and
  20. Julius Rosenberg, Yatskov had long since fled the U.S.
